Who else is at the Wānaka Community Hub?
This month, we’re highlighting what the Wānaka Community Hub (our landlord) is all about – and what some of the other services available in the building can offer.
The Hub provides a cooperative working space to a number of health and social service organisations for the Upper Clutha community. Besides Community Networks/LINK’s support and connection service – including our Foodbank; Social Worker; Community Kitchens; Community Garden workshops; and regular appointments with IRD, Immigration NZ, MSD Office for Seniors, Community Law and JPs – you’ll find a huge range of services and activities happening at 34 McDougall Street!
You’ll find Social Workers from Anglican Family Care; Presbyterian Support Otago; and Central Lakes Family Services in the building, all offering free, non-judgemental support to help you or your family make positive changes. We can connect you to one of these agencies, or you can find out more here.
You’ll also find Family Works Financial Mentor Nicole Huddleston, who can help you with budgeting, debt, financial products, loans and other money topics. She’s currently offering a Money Clinic once a month on a Thursday morning to help people with any money questions they may have. Her next session is April 27 - contact us to book in for a 30-minute appointment.
Also at the Hub: Cancer Society offer supportive care to the Wānaka community diagnosed with cancer and their families; Volunteer South help connect volunteers to a huge range of local organisations; Central Otago Budgeting Services offer free budgeting advice; MSD’s Office for Seniors provide superannuation consults through our Reconnecting Seniors project; and a Family Court Navigator visits monthly to help families with legal queries. Other agencies with a base at the Hub, include counselling services like Adventure Development, representatives from Te Whatu Ora and Oranga Tamariki, and many more.
So, there’s plenty going on! To find out more about the support on offer, visit communitynetworks.co.nz, call 03 443 7799 or pop in and see us Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm.
