Come and see us this winter
Wānaka winters can be tough for anyone, but there is support available to help you keep warm and well. If you’re in need of a little extra help, pop in and see Community Networks/LINK at the Wānaka Community Hub.
We can help you access a range of practical support to help you with day-to-day needs, including food parcels, vouchers and our Community Support Fund, or connect you to additional welfare support, like financial mentors or social workers.
Our Community Networks/LINK Social Worker Heather can provide short-term direct support for coping with a variety of issues like parenting, finances, and mental wellbeing; and if needed, connect you with the appropriate longer term resources. She’s available by appointment Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at the Wānaka Community Hub – get in touch to find out more or make an appointment.
Financial advisers can provide confidential, non-judgemental guidance and support, helping you better understand budgeting, debt, financial products, loans and other money topics, reduce any ongoing cycles of debt and work out a financial plan that is right for you. Head to our website to find out more about the financial advisers working in the Upper Clutha.
Finally, if you or someone you know is struggling, there is mental health support available. Visit our website for a list of available Counselling and Mental Health Services, including free and web-based services, and useful self-help resources. For support with anxiety, distress or mental wellbeing, you can call or text 1737 to talk with a trained counsellor for free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
